There's a new Angel in Heaven....

Thank You all for your kind words, thoughts and prayers
for my Mom and My Family during this difficult time.
As I always say...Blogging Friends are the Best Friends!

At 2:43 a.m this Monday Morning.......
A New Angel entered into Heaven!
Her name is Helen
82 years young!

As my Brothers, Sisters and myself had to come to an
Agreement to turn off the Life Support on our Mom!
It was the most difficult decision that we will ever have
To make in our lives, especially if you have a Family
like mine.

Not everyone was in agreement...after 30 hours
of living in the waiting room, and sleeping in chairs.
We were all exhausted, hungry, needed showers,
angry, full of questions, grief, what, why, how?
Voices were raised, harsh words were said, feelings
were hurt...and in the end...enough is enough!
We can't go on like this. Mom can't go on like this.
A decision had to be made and their was no winner.

At 2:00 a.m we told the nurse we are done.
We are all physically and emotionally drained.
There was no change in Mom's condition.
She was still having seizures due to lack of oxygen
To the brain. There was no brain activity.
The end has come. The nurse called the Dr. and told
him our decision.  Mom was given some pain medication
and a few Minutes later we gathered around as they pulled out
The Life Support tube.
As we stood in a circle, gathered around her bed, and the
Chaplain saying Prayer, Mom's body began to relax, her breaths
got shallow, then at 2:43 a.m she took her last breath!

I cannot Believe she is gone, just like that!
She is in a better place now.
No more pain and suffering.
Mom was living with Parkinson's Disease for the last 30 yrs.
She was confined to a wheelchair, unable to walk and do
certain things on her own. She lived at a Nursing Home for
the last 3 years.

Again, Thank You all for your Friendship. I wish you were
All here so I could give you a Hug.
It's gonna be a Loooonng week! Funeral on Friday.

Sandi,
You made the right decision. Giving your Mom the peace, grace and dignity she needed is the ultimate expression of Love.
My heart goes out to you and your family. I pray your family will come to terms with the decision made and see she will always be with them, although not physically. The days to come will be hard, but God will be walking with you in every step. I know from experience.
Blessing, prayers and big hugs to you,
Jean

Dear Sandi I am sorry for your loss. Your mom is at peace and young and free of pain. She is home and waiting until the time you are reunited. I said goodbye to my mom 27 years ago. I had a dream the night before her funeral. An angel came to me and told me not to cry for my mom. She was home and happy. Ii felt a peace wash over me. I woke my sister up to tell her about the dream and she had just had a similar one. I pray that an angel visits you and brings you peace. Xo Marsha

Dear Sandi,
My sincere sympathy and prayers for you and your family at this difficult time.
Having been an ICU Nurse and watching the struggle the family has to make to remove life support, breaks my heart for you and your family. It truly is one of the hardest decisions you ever have to make. Sorry you had to go through that.
Hoping for peace to come to your heart.

Oh Sandi,

I am so sorry. I know how hard it is to go through all that, the waiting and watching and hoping and praying and wondering...

I don't care how old you are 6 or 66, it is so hard to loose your mom. No one knows you like your mom does. I was 31 when I lost mine.

Your mom is with you and will be all the time now.

Be well my friend. I will be thinking of you on Friday, good luck.

DEAR SANDI,
I need to give you a huge hug and say it's okay...but in your heart you are still hurting and will for some time to come.
YOU DID THE RIGHT THING...I can't imagine living like that just on life support. It's a difficult decission for sure but the right one.
I pray for you and your family that by now the hard feelings and anger have gone and you all know this was the RIGHT THING TO DO.
Bless you all and I also want to say Happy Valentine's Day to you and a big thank you for always visiting my blog and leaving your sweet comments.
I'm so bad at doing the visiting as I have so many wonderful friends I like to visit that it takes me forever to make the rounds. But eventually i get here/there.
Hugs and prayers
